Oxford Brookes ranks in top 25% of global universities evaluated in QS World Rankings 2026

Oxford Brookes University has secured its place among the world’s leading universities, ranking in the top 25% of global institutions evaluated in the QS World University Rankings 2026.
The rankings, published today (19 June), place Oxford Brookes 374th out of 1,501 universities worldwide, a rise of 42 places on last year’s result. Nationally, the University is ranked 38th overall out of 90 institutions, four positions higher than last year.
Vice-Chancellor Professor Alistair Fitt said: “To be placed in the top quarter of evaluated universities worldwide is a real achievement. This reflects the global outlook of our community and our determination to deliver an education that’s inclusive, outward-looking and responsive to the future.”
Oxford Brookes performed particularly strongly in areas related to international engagement. It was ranked 143rd globally for International Student Diversity, a new indicator introduced this year, and 168th for International Students, underlining the breadth and diversity of the University’s student body.
The QS World University Rankings assess institutions across nine indicators, including academic and employer reputation, internationalisation, research strength and graduate employability.
The 2025 QS World University Rankings by Subject, published in March, named Oxford Brookes among the world’s best in 23 subject areas – up from 21 in 2024.
Oxford Brookes is also ranked 38th in the UK in the Guardian University Guide 2024, which places the University in the UK top 10 for ten subjects, including Children’s Nursing (1st), Midwifery (2nd), Journalism (2nd) and Graphic Design (3rd).
