Oxford Brookes Racing set to debut new car ahead of Germany return
Oxford Brookes Racing is set to debut a new car at this summer’s Formula Student competitions, as the team prepares to compete in Germany for the first time since 2017.
The student team will take part in Formula Student UK at Silverstone in July before travelling to Hockenheim in August for Formula Student Germany, widely regarded as one of the most competitive events in the international calendar. The 2026 car has been redesigned to be lighter and more efficient, with major changes to the chassis, cooling system and battery aimed at improving overall performance.
William Wall, Purchasing and Partnership Lead for Oxford Brookes Racing, said: “Formula Student Germany is one of the most prestigious events in the calendar. We’ll be competing against some of the best teams in the world, so it’s a real opportunity to test ourselves.”
Sébastien Cavedon, Operations Manager, added: “By redesigning the chassis and moving to a fully air-cooled system, we’ve reduced weight and simplified the car. Alongside a new battery set-up, these are three major changes that should make a noticeable difference on track.”
The car will be officially unveiled at a launch event in May. The team has also launched a JustGiving page to support its trip to Germany. Donors giving £100 or more will have their name printed on the car, with the top three contributors invited to attend the launch event.
Oxford Brookes Racing is supported by a network of sponsors providing technical expertise, equipment and resources to support the team’s development.
