The 22nd Coaching and Mentoring Research Conference will take place on Thursday, 15 January 2026 and will be a hybrid (online/face to face) event, featuring original coaching and mentoring research conducted by the doctoral and MA students of the International Centre for Coaching and Mentoring Studies (Oxford Brookes University), as well as students from other universities around the world.

We have two guest speakers and this year's presentations will include a diverse range of topics, including AI in coaching, executive group coaching, imposter phenomenon, coaching the Self, critical mentoring, eco-engaged coaching, values in coaching and social work, and coaching in health trials, plus more

Professor Rebecca J Jones, Henley Business School, University of Reading, UK

Professor Rebecca J. Jones, PhD, CPsychol, is the managing consultant heading up coaching services at gender equity consulting firm Shape Talent, co-founder of Inclusive Leadership Company, a chartered psychologist and a past chair of the Henley Centre for Coaching at Henley Business School. For the past 15 years, Rebecca has been researching coaching effectiveness and is passionate about the application of research evidence to enhance coaching practice. Rebecca is the author of the books ‘Simplifying Inclusive Leadership’, ‘Key Topics in Coaching Psychology’ and ‘Coaching with Research in Mind’. She has previously hosted the coaching-related podcasts ‘Coaching@Henley’ and ‘The Coaching Academic’ and has published her research in journals such as Academy of Management Learning & Education, the Journal of Occupational & Organisational Psychology, the European Journal of Work & Organisational Psychology and the Journal of Managerial Psychology.

Dr Sean O’Connor, Director of the Coaching Psychology Unit, University of Sydney, Australia

Dr Sean O’Connor is Director of the Coaching Psychology Unit at the University of Sydney, renowned globally for contributing much of the fundamental coaching research and providing the world’s first and longest-running master’s-level programme worldwide. Sean has published many chapters and journal articles focusing on the areas of coaching research, education, positive psychology, systemic change and the coaching ripple effect. Sean is a pracademic translating research into practice as Director of Mindsight Coaching, providing executive coaching, leadership development and systemically focused organisational change programmes worldwide, with a focus on development, performance and wellbeing. Sean has a passion for taking complex ideas and finding ways to see and do things differently, while always applying a critical mindset aimed towards the betterment of the human condition.
