72 Hour Horror Film Race

On Thursday 15 May in the historic Strand Theater in Marietta, Georgia USA, students from Oxford Brookes were victorious against international competition in the annual 72 Hour Horror Film Race.

Filmmakers were challenged to write and produce a horror film in just 72 hours, with the Oxford Brookes team competing against 115 talented filmmaker teams from countries including the USA, France, Hong Kong, Australia and New Zealand.

The team was delighted to walk away with a haul of trophies and the honour of being shortlisted as one of the top ten submitted films.

The team left the evening with the coveted gongs for:

  • Best Editing - Emily Tague (Year 2 BSc Digital Media Production)
  • Best Directing - Crystal Constance (Year 2 BA Digital Media Production) and Brigeth Encalada Gomez (Year 3 BA Digital Media Production)
  • Best Actor - Will Perois (Oxford Brookes graduate, BA Japanese Studies, 2024)

The team also received the prize for runner up in the Best Picture category, only losing out to a professional crew from the USA.
