About the film

The Engineer is a powerful new feature documentary marking the debut of director Sam Reynard, who provides a unique, personal perspective on the life of his father.

The film explores Adrian’s journey from a 19-year-old student at the Polytechnic—where he broke the World Land Speed Record on a bike he built himself—to founding Reynard Racing Cars, the world’s largest race car manufacturer of the 70s and 80s.

Beyond the track, the documentary offers an intimate and unflinching portrait of Adrian at 74. It follows his pursuit of one final challenge: returning to the land speed record, while reflecting on how he used his engineering brilliance to help his daughter, Daniela, navigate a rare medical condition.

Supporting the next generation

Adrian’s journey began with a hands-on passion for engineering right here on campus. In honor of that legacy, all donations from this event will go directly toward the Oxford Brookes Racing team.

Your support helps our student-led Formula Student team access the resources, materials, and technology they need to compete on the world stage—continuing the tradition of innovation that Adrian Reynard helped pioneer at the Polytechnic.
