Brookes Sport to cease Harcourt Hill operations from April 2026

As part of its Oxford Campus Vision, Oxford Brookes University has moved most of its Oxford-based activity to Headington in recent years. All remaining teaching and library services at Harcourt Hill moved before the start of the current 2025/26 academic year.

Within this context and the significant fall in numbers using the campus site, the University has taken the decision to withdraw its remaining Brookes Sport operations at Harcourt Hill from 1 April 2026.

From this date, the indoor sports facilities and services provided by Brookes Sport at Harcourt Hill - which include a gym, squash court and fitness class timetable - will no longer be available.

Active discussions are taking place with third-party providers for taking on the running of these indoor facilities, which may mean they can continue to be used beyond 1 April 2026.

Although they will no longer be operated by Brookes Sport, from April 2026 the site's grass pitches will continue to be available and the 3G pitches will still be accessible for block bookings via the University’s Oxford Brookes Venues team.

A set of frequently asked questions has been produced to help answer any questions you might have, which we will continue to keep updated.

This will include further information on how to book the pitches at Harcourt Hill beyond April 2026, updates on potential third-party running of the indoor sports facilities in future, and what this decision means for Brookes Sport members.
