Optimal Energy®: the research, the book and the challenge to previous thinking
People are finding the world of work, and the world in general, exhausting. Much is being written about burnout and downshifting. Senior executives in all sectors are working phenomenally hard, most not taking the time to think whether they are optimally energised to achieve their aims, meet the demands made on them and have healthy relationships – yet suboptimal energy negatively impacts performance, behaviour and motivation.
In this talk Viv will describe her journey to writing a book on this topic: from seeing that there was a need to address energy with her executive coaching clients, identifying the lack of writing in the coaching and supervision fields, her research (at Oxford Brookes) to the writing of the book ‘Coaching for Optimal Energy®: A guide for executive coaches’, which was published by Routledge in July 2022. She will present a new way of considering energy, including the concept of Optimal Energy®, and challenge how energy has been previously considered.
