MSc Medical Genetics & Genomics: webinar and course information session

Are you interested in a biotechnology or research career working in genomics? Genomics is one of the fastest growing areas of biological and biomedical science.

The explosion of “omics” technologies, along with increased funding, into these areas (within the medical field, research, biotechnology industries, and government funded agencies) have led to a massive need for biologists who have the understanding and skills to deal with this “big data”. These exciting developments in the areas of genetics and genomics have implications for several different fields, ranging from medical genetics and personalised medicine to various biotechnology applications, and even conservation (to name but a few).

This degree will provide you with an in-depth understanding of the ‘omics’ disciplines with a focus on medical examples. You will learn the necessary computational understanding and skills to deploy current technologies, analyses, and diagnostics. The focus of this particular MSc is predominantly with a medical perspective, however the skills acquired can be applied to a range of different disciplines, preparing you for a range of careers in biotechnology companies, UK Government funded Public Health Initiatives, Genomic Medicine/Clinical research, and other genomic research.

In this webinar our team will discuss:
  • Topics covered on the degree
  • Examples of potential careers
  • How to make an application including the support available
  • What happens after you've made an application
  • Scholarships available.
They will also be available to answer your questions via live Q&A. The webinar is open to both current applicants, as well as those considering studying at Oxford Brookes.
