The Big Exploration

This project is all about young, curious minds finding out more about how university works.

How it works

We’ve made The Big Exploration for students in Year 5 and 6 in Oxfordshire.

Your students will find out about the research skills that are a really big part of studying at university. Along the way, you’ll also discover what it’s like to go to university, and some of the different subjects and topics you can learn about there. You’ll then get the chance to do your very own piece of research!

We’ll be in touch when The Big Exploration is going ahead again for 2022/23 school year.

Why you should take part

“I would very much recommend the project to other schools … children have an innate fascination with the world, are curious and ask very thought provoking questions.

This was a real eye opener for them as many of them had no idea of the variety of possible jobs within science.

All of the activities as part of the workshop were thought provoking, challenging and fun.”

Philippa Ben-Aldjia, Science Coordinator at John Henry Newman Academy
