Role

Adeyemi is a Senior Lecturer in Quantity Surveying & Commercial Management in the School of the Built Environment. He has had about nine years of Higher Education experience teaching in diverse areas including Quantification (manual and digital), Construction Procurement, and Contract Administration. He has research interests in socio-technical issues around the implementation of technology in construction IT construction procurement, cost management, contract administration and theorising phenomena in the construction industry.

Teaching and supervision

Courses

I teach core quantity surveying practice modules at levels four to seven. These modules cover a wide range of knowledge areas in quantity surveying and commercial management. These include measurement using the current rules of measurement, procurement, estimating, tendering, value management and construction contract administration. I'm also involved in programme and module development.

Supervision

Here at Oxford Brookes University, I mentor several undergraduate and postgraduate (MSc and PhD) research students in a diverse range of topics covering, the evolution of quantity surveying practices with innovation, tendering practices, and construction management and BIM.

New PhD students are welcome in any area related to constructtion/project management.

Research

The construction industry is clearly evolving and the stimuli for this change are diverse. To achieve desired outcomes, there is a need for sustained inquiry into how professionals, organisations and institutions shape, or are shaped by these changes. My current work and interests fit in what could be described as construction management research in areas like complexity management, supply chain integration, digital construction (Building Information Modelling, digital twin, construction 4.0) and theorising social phenomena in construction.
