Role

Having undertaken my own studies in Early Childhood Care and Education, as well as experience working in the childcare sector, I started lecturing in 2011. Initially I worked in one of Oxford Brookes’ Associate College Partner Colleges to manage and deliver the Foundation Degree in Early Years and BA (Hons) Top Up Degree in Early Childhood Studies, I then moved to Oxford Brookes in September 2018. Since that time I have worked alongside the teams in the School of Education to coordinate the Early Childhood Studies programme, whilst also delivering modules on the Primary Education programme, and acting as Liaison Manager for the Foundation Degree in Early Years, BA (Hons) Top Up Degree in Early Childhood Studies, and the BA in Early Learning and Care.

Teaching and supervision

Modules taught

I currently teach a range of modules across the Early Childhood Studies degree programme, including a placement module to introduce students to the expectations of working in the Early Childhood Care and Education sector, and an honours module which analyses the policy frameworks that guide and influence practice within the sector. My own areas of subject expertise include Child Development, which I deliver modules for Early Childhood Studies programme as well as on the Primary Education programme.

Research

My current research is an exploration of the qualifications and training expectations for the Early Years workforce.
