Research

Doctoral thesis title:  How are chronologies and neglect assessment tools used by health and social care practitioners to identify and assess child neglect?

Monica's PhD examines how assessment tools and chronologies are used within health and social care to identify and assess child neglect. Using mixed methods, the study brings together international evidence, national policy analysis, and practitioners’ perspectives, with particular attention to their first-hand experiences of working with neglected children and families. The research aims to deepen understanding of how tools and chronologies function in practice and to inform the development of clearer guidance, more effective tools, and interventions that strengthen neglect assessment.
