BSc (Hons) International Hospitality and Hotel Management, 2026, Pakistan, Student
“My studies have given me valuable exposure to the hospitality industry. I’ve developed skills essential for a global career through hands-on experiences.”
“The University actively prepares students for professional life.”
Opportunities are offered through placements, industry connections, and practical learning. When researching my university options, I was also drawn to the diverse student community at Oxford Brookes. Coming from an international background, it was important for me to study in an environment where people from different cultures feel included and valued. It felt like a community where I could grow, feel supported, and build a strong foundation for my future career.
“The support offered made the move overseas much easier than I expected.”
Even before arriving, the International Student Advice Team (ISAT) provided guidance on visas, documentation, and practical steps for moving to the UK, which gave me reassurance that I wasn’t navigating the process alone. After arriving, the welcome events organised by Brookes Union played a huge role in helping me to settle in. Seeing so many societies, sports clubs, and student-led initiatives made the campus feel vibrant and welcoming. It gave me the confidence to step out of my comfort zone, meet new people, and get involved in campus life beyond my studies.
“My studies have given me valuable exposure to the hospitality industry.”
I’ve developed skills essential for a global career through hands-on experiences such as field trips to hotels, where we observed operations in real settings and connected theory to practice, as well as through opportunities to attend major industry events like Passion for Hospitality. I have also attended regular careers fairs where international hospitality brands and industry professionals shared insights into career pathways and global opportunities. These experiences have given me the opportunity to build my network and learn directly from industry leaders, while also building my confidence, industry awareness, and professional mindset. They have strengthened my employability and given me a realistic understanding of how to position myself for opportunities in an international hospitality career.
“I received an International Student Scholarship.”
This financial support made a significant difference, especially as an international student, as it helped reduce the financial pressure at the start of my studies. It allowed me to focus more fully on settling into university life, engaging with my course, and making the most of academic and extracurricular opportunities without constant financial stress. It also felt encouraging to receive recognition from the University, which motivated me to work hard and make the most of the opportunities available to me during my time at Oxford Brookes.
“Oxford has a unique blend of history, culture, and student life.”
Being surrounded by historic buildings and libraries makes everyday routines feel inspiring and meaningful. In my spare time, I like to explore independent cafes around the city, many of which have a warm, authentic atmosphere where I can study, reflect, or simply unwind with friends. Moments like these are what make Oxford feel so special.
I have joined several societies, which I found to be one of the best ways to socialise and meet people from diverse backgrounds. I also co-founded the Brookes Bhangra Society with my friends, which became a successful and rewarding experience. Starting a society taught me leadership, teamwork, and event-planning skills, and the events we organised were always fun and a great way to take a break from academic work.
“I discovered a strong interest in both guest experience and strategic brand development.”
I aim to build a career in either front office operations or brand marketing within the hospitality industry. Working part-time as a receptionist at Brookes Accommodation strengthened my communication, problem-solving, and customer service skills, while showing me the impact of first impressions and positive guest experiences. This confirmed my interest in operational roles. At the same time, studying Marketing modules sparked a strong interest in consumer behaviour, branding, and digital trends, and performing well in these areas boosted my confidence in both my creative and analytical abilities. I hope to work in an international hospitality environment, progressing into front office leadership or contributing to the development and positioning of strong hospitality brands.
