Join the Mental Health and Wellbeing Student Ideas Network

Student Support Services and Brookes Union are excited to launch a new student network to raise awareness of student wellbeing and help develop the University's range of support services.
You are invited to join the Mental Health and Wellbeing Student Ideas Network, which aims to build on the insights and recommendations gathered from the first stage of a research project in 2023/2024 that captured the University experience of BAME students. The new network will invite ideas from a wider range of students about how the University can improve its support services to be even more inclusive and effective.
What to expect
The Mental Health and Wellbeing Student Ideas Network will meet for two one-hour meetings per semester, which you can attend online or in person. Network members will contribute to discussions and action points that will be reviewed to ensure your ideas drive real change within the University. You will also receive email updates between meetings about University-wide mental health initiatives and service developments, as well as regular short surveys and feedback opportunities.
Who can get involved
The Mental Health and Wellbeing Student Ideas Network aims to capture a wide range of voices to ensure that developments to our support services are as inclusive as possible. The network is open to:
- all students
- whether or not you have accessed the University’s support services
- particularly those from diverse backgrounds.
Participating members will not be asked to discuss personal mental health or wellbeing experiences.
Why you should take part
Joining this network is a great opportunity for students with an interest in mental health and inclusive practice to help improve the student experience at Oxford Brookes. Outcomes from the network will contribute to the University’s work towards the Student Minds Mental Health Charter, meaning your ideas will have a lasting positive impact for current and future students. As a thank-you for attending the network meetings and contributing your ideas, you’ll also receive a £10 voucher of your choice.
How to sign up
The initial network meeting will take place on Thursday 6 February. Sign up to the Mental Health and Wellbeing Student Ideas Network to take part and receive updates about future network activities. Once you register for a meeting, you’ll receive a Google Calendar event with further details.
