Green Impact teams achieve Gold and Platinum awards

Five teams from across Oxford Brookes have achieved Green Impact Gold and Platinum awards in recognition of the positive steps they have made towards better sustainability practices on campus.
Green Impact is an award-winning United Nations programme designed to support environmentally and socially sustainable practice within organisations. In the 2024/25 academic year, we launched a new platinum award level, encouraging experienced teams to undertake innovative projects to further improve the sustainability of their departments. This was Brookes’ fourth year of participation and all the teams across the University have been working hard to deliver positive sustainability actions. This year’s award winners are:
Gold
- Marketing, Recruitment and Engagement
- Oxford Brookes Business School

- Learning Resources
- Residences
The Green Impact teams have worked hard to identify opportunities to improve their environmental impact within their departments. Highlights include:

- the hosting of a directorate-wide Google Drive decluttering event to help reduce digital footprints
- engagement with students in halls through sustainability-focused events and a semester-long waste competition to improve waste behaviours, reduce contamination and increase hall recycling rates by 11%
- the launch of a Sustainability Award within the undergraduate placement module in recognition of the importance of the work that is being done in this area across all industries.
