Annual research student exhibition

Tuesday 20 April 2027

The Forum, John Henry Brookes Building

Join your fellow research students and present your research on the next Annual Research Student Exhibition.

Compete with your fellow research students for a chance to win a range of cash prizes and have the opportunity to showcase your work to the wider University and external visitors.

All research students, at master's and doctoral level, are invited to submit and showcase their work. We have hired out the carpeted area of The Forum (JHB) to properly showcase your submissions, not only to students and staff, but to visitors of the University. This will be a fantastic opportunity and a worthwhile experience for any of you who choose to get involved.

Last year's event was very successful with poster presentations, practice-based installations, printed word entries. Read more about it in the Graduate College Newsletter.

What can I exhibit?

  • printed word including conference papers, abstracts, journal articles, book chapters
  • practice based including audio and visual performances or recordings, installations, demonstrations, displays
  • posters including academic posters, Powerpoint, Prezi and movie presentations. If you submit a poster, the size is A0 and portrait layout.

If you require any equipment for your presentation (e.g. audio visual equipment), please let us know your requirements on the submission form and we will do our best to arrange this for you.

If you are unsure which category your submission falls into or feel that your particular form of submission has not been covered by the above categories, please do not be put off. Contact us at asa-gcevents@brookes.ac.uk and we will advise you as to which category will be most appropriate for your submission.

How to make a preposterously pathetic poster?

To be confirmed (in person only)

In this live session, Professor John Runions will give practical advice about how to make an effective conference poster. We consider what makes a good and what makes a bad, that is, a preposterously pathetic poster, and provide hints and tips and practical advice for making a really great one.

Professor Brooks will explain the different ways in which you can display your work, whatever your subject area and whatever stage you are at in your programme. If you are unable to come in person, please let us know by completing the booking form, we will send you the zoom link for this event.
