Thank you for applying to study at Oxford Brookes! Here’s an idea of what happens next - both on our side and yours.
We'll receive your application from UCAS. We will review your application and decide if you are right for this course - looking at things like whether you have (or will have) the necessary qualifications, predicted grades and your personal statement. For some courses you will be invited to interview before we make a decision.
Our admissions team will be working as quickly as they can to respond to your application - but be prepared to wait, as response times can vary. How long you wait is not an indication of whether you are likely to receive an offer or not - just how busy the admissions team is! You will be notified that your application status has been updated via UCAS initially, and we will email you if you are successfully offered a place. If you have applied for more than one course, we will consider and respond to each application separately.
If you receive an offer, you may be invited to Applicant Day. This is a great chance to meet current students and teaching staff, learn more about your course and really get a feel for life at Brookes. If you’ve already attended Open Day, Applicant Day can refresh your memories of Brookes, give you a new perspective as an offer holder, and help you make your final decision about university.
Please note that some courses do not run sessions at Applicant Day - if you don’t receive an invitation and would like to arrange a visit to the university or have any questions, please get in touch.
It’s important that you understand the type of decision you have received and what to do next.
Types of decision:
Once you have received decisions back on all your applications, UCAS will send you a deadline for making your Firm or Insurance choices. More information on making your choices is on the UCAS website. If you need any further information to help in making your decision, don’t hesitate to get in touch.
You may also receive:
On results day in August, UCAS provides examination results for A-levels and AS-levels. We normally receive results for BTEC qualifications, the International Baccalaureate, and the Access to Higher Education Diploma during July, and Scottish Higher and Advanced Higher results earlier in August. If your offer is conditional upon obtaining certain grades in examinations not listed above, you should send a copy of your results in writing direct to the Admissions Office as soon as you receive them. See our Application Timeline for more information about what happens when you receive the examination results for a conditional offer. If you haven’t quite met the grades, we may still be able to confirm our offer - this will depend on how well you have done, on any exceptional circumstances, and on how many places we have left.
If you have applied directly to Oxford Brookes (ie not through UCAS) you will be notified of our decision by the university directly. If we have made you an offer, this notification will include information about how to accept your offer - using either an online form or a postal reply slip.If your offer was conditional, you should send your results to the Admissions Office as soon as you have them, even if they are A-level results - UCAS supply A-level results only for UCAS applicants. If you don't quite get the grades you need, your application will undergo further consideration before a decision is made. In some cases we may still be able to offer you a place.
If your offer is conditional for a postgraduate taught course, you should send your results directly to the department running your course as soon as you have them. Please contact the department to see if the University has been able to confirm your offer of a place.
Throughout this process, all important information from us and updates about your application will come via email - make sure you check it regularly and contact us at email@example.com if your details change.
