What is LibrarySearch?

LibrarySearch is a powerful search engine that allows you to carry out expansive, cross-disciplinary searches. It searches many of the Library's collections together so you get a single set of results and can be used to explore material from libraries worldwide. This makes it a great starting point for a literature search and a useful source of inspiration for expanding your research.

When you just need a book...

You can use LibrarySearch to find anything held in our libraries.

When you want to read online...

You can use LibrarySearch to find and access the majority of our electronic books, journals and articles.

When you are ready to expand your research...

You can use LibrarySearch to look beyond our collections to access open material or view the collections of other libraries.

LibrarySearch uses the WorldCat Discovery software from OCLC. It is also the force behind our Database Collections list and Journals A to Z list. LibrarySearch connects to our online reading lists and you can also use it to manage your library account, pay fees, save searches and more.

Known issues

  • Browse the shelf is not fully working - sorry!
  • Using Safari browser, searches do not complete or access options will not load. Please update to the latest version of Safari or try a different browser.
  • Citation previews using Harvard show double instead of single quotes for article titles. Always check your references before submitting your work.
  • Some journal articles that we don’t own do not show the Interlibrary Loan button. Please use the manual Create Request form in My Account.
  • My Account, Profile changes do not apply. The library will always write to you using your Brookes email. At present the Profile settings are only for interlibrary loan communication.
  • Dates appear in US format: Change your web browser default language to UK English to fix this.
