About Health and Safety at Oxford Brookes University

Our overall aim is to provide excellence in health and safety and to promote a positive safety culture in our University.

We are committed to the health, safety, and wellbeing of our staff, students and visitors entering any of our University campuses and buildings; and committed to meeting the University's legal and moral obligations. This also extends to the challenges offered during world pandemics.

The team works with Faculties and Directorates to deliver teaching, research and a wide spectrum of work activities safely. 

We provide:

  • Statutory reporting
  • University Safety Committee.

Reporting accidents and matters of concern

For guidance and further information on reporting accidents, the University's, 'Accident, incident, dangerous occurrence and diseases reporting procedures and investigations policy', and the 'Frequently Asked Questions' should be read.

You must report:

  • Deaths and injuries caused by workplace accidents
  • Occupational diseases
  • Carcinogens mutagens and biological agents
  • Specified injuries to workers
  • Dangerous occurrences
  • Gas incidents.

All accidents/Incidents including those to students, contractors' staff, or visitors must be reported using the documents linked below.

Safety concerns or issues should be reported to prevent repeating failures or minor incidents that did not result in loss or harm from developing into more serious incidents. Safety concerns should be reported on the safety concern form below.
