Nirmal Prajapati

I am truly grateful to receive the Dean’s List 2025 award for Academic Excellence and Contribution to Oxford Brookes Business School Life. I sincerely thank the university, my lecturers, and the Business School community for their support throughout my journey.  As an Accounting and Finance student, this award reflects the dedication I have put into mastering complex subjects such as financial reporting, auditing, and corporate finance, while also staying involved in the wider university community.  This recognition highlights the importance of balancing academic excellence with real-world skills. It has strengthened my ability to think critically, collaborate effectively, and engage with diverse perspectives—qualities that are vital in the accounting and finance profession. I’m proud of this achievement, and I know it will be a valuable part for me as I take the next steps in my academic and professional journey.

Lara Huemer

As a postgraduate student who has returned to Oxford Brookes University after gaining work experience abroad, it has been an honour to continue my education where it all began. Olivia Jones-Humphreys

I am incredibly proud of the journey I have had at Oxford Brookes University, and being chosen for the Dean’s List is a real honour. From the moment I arrived, I knew I wanted to make a name for myself—not just academically, but by getting involved, saying yes to new experiences, and making the most of every opportunity.

I have worked hard to contribute meaningfully to both the university and the Oxford Brookes Business School communities. As Treasurer of the Oxford Brookes Tennis Society and Social Media Director for Oxford Brookes Business Society, where I helped grow student engagement.

I am grateful for everything Oxford Brookes has offered me, the academic support, the leadership roles, and the platform to grow personally and professionally. These three years have shaped who I am, and I leave with a deep sense of pride in what I’ve achieved and contributed.

Matteo Nania

Being recognised on the Dean’s List for my MSc has been a meaningful milestone in my academic and personal journey. It reflects not only my growth as a student, but also the value of being part of a truly supportive community at Oxford Brookes. Filip Pfeifer

Being named to the Dean’s List is a meaningful recognition of the dedication I’ve poured into every aspect of my time at Oxford Brookes, as an international student, elite rower, and entrepreneur. Balancing academic excellence with the development of my own sports tech startup and the highest level of competition has pushed me to grow far beyond the classroom. From representing my country in international rowing competitions to receiving support through Spark and Ignite for my rowing grip innovation, Brookes has empowered me to bridge performance, innovation, and business. I’m deeply grateful to the staff and mentors who have helped me turn challenges into opportunities.

Amir Mardani Gheranghayeh

Being named on the Dean’s List at Oxford Brookes University is a significant achievement for me, especially as an international student in the MSc International Business Management programme, with the need to adapt to a new academic and cultural environment. This recognition not only reflects my dedication and commitment throughout the year but also encourages me to continue striving for excellence.

Before joining Oxford Brookes, I had hands-on experience running a business and travelling to China for international trade. However, the opportunity to study business academically has significantly enhanced my strategic thinking and helped me understand many of the elements I had previously found challenging in practice.

I am deeply grateful for the invaluable support of Dr. Gabor Lukacs, Dr Shelley Beck, Dr Nicole Ferdinand, Dr Karen Cripps, and many other mentors whose names form a long list of those who have shaped my journey. Johanna Linck

I am proud to have been awarded a place on the Dean’s List in recognition of my academic achievements and contribution to the Business School. To me, this reflects the great academic support and welcoming environment at Oxford Brookes University. I have first experienced Oxford Brookes as a place where I could develop academically, professionally, and personally during my undergraduate studies until 2021. After a few years in the workplace, I decided to return to university to pursue a MSc in International Business and Supply Chain Management. During the past year I have been able to benefit from my industry experience in applying real-world scenarios to the curriculum and acted as a student representative for my cohort. I am looking forward to exploring my further professional journey after graduating from a truly enriching postgraduate course at Oxford Brookes University.

Alicia Moulder

I am truly honoured to be included in the Dean’s List. This recognition reflects the hard work, dedication, and commitment I have invested throughout my studies at Oxford Brookes. During my time here, I’ve had the privilege of serving as President of the Women in Business Society, where I have led initiatives aimed at empowering students, fostering professional development, and creating valuable networking opportunities. Additionally, my involvement with the International Business Society has enabled me to contribute to building an inclusive and diverse student community, fostering cross-cultural collaboration and promoting global perspectives.

One of the most rewarding aspects of my studies has been the opportunity to complete a placement, which has significantly enhanced my professional skills and provided practical experience in applying the theoretical knowledge gained in the classroom to real-world business challenges. This hands-on experience has been instrumental in my personal and professional growth and has better prepared me for my future career.

I am deeply grateful to the Business School, my professors, mentors, and peers for their continuous support and guidance throughout my academic journey. This achievement would not have been possible without their encouragement and the enriching opportunities I have been given.

Kirsty Zhang

It is truly an honour to be on the Dean’s List this year. I like to take opportunities as they come, and this has resulted in many contributions to the business school, social engagement and environmental initiates. 

Taking an industrial placement year offered me insights into the business and learnt many new aspects, where I contributed to increasing sales by 10%, reducing undocumented damage to the bottom line and achieve the highest service score out branch has ever had. 

I enjoy giving back to the community, with open days, community events and volunteering, by interacting with students, staff and faculty. Helping students network and build their skills was very fulfilling, which I was able to contribute to as Vice President of the Business Society. There are numerous opportunities to learn and give back to the community, and this makes a huge difference to others. 

Layla Saleh

Being awarded with the prestigious Dean’s List award is a meaningful milestone that reflects more than academic success, it captures the transformation I’ve undergone over the past three years. As an international student from the Middle East, arriving at Oxford Brookes was both a bold leap and a personal commitment to growth. Each year brought new challenges and deeper learning: from building a strong academic foundation, to contributing to ethical and sustainable change through the ERS Curriculum Innovation project, to applying my skills in real-world settings like marketing consultancy projects and community volunteering. These experiences have taught me that true impact isn’t limited to the classroom, it’s about using knowledge with empathy, purpose, and responsibility. Whether helping a local senior connect to the digital world or supporting a business’s marketing strategy as a Marketing Comms Management student, I’ve learned that small, intentional actions can create lasting change. I am especially grateful to my academic advisor, Dr Husni Kharouf, Associate Dean for Undergraduate programmes at Oxford Brookes Business School, for his belief in me, his unwavering support and guidance throughout my journey. My time at Brookes has shaped me into a more thoughtful, adaptable, and mission-driven individual, and I now feel empowered to step into the future ready to lead with both integrity and impact.

I would say that receiving the Dean’s List award has been a huge honour, it not only recognises the effort I put into my time at Oxford Brookes but it also validates the belief that hard work pays off.
