Keith Kelly

Director of Sport

Keith first started at Oxford Brookes in 1997 as a Sports Amenities Assistant. Following stops at some external sports companies he returned to work his way up to his current role as Director of Sport - a role he has held since 2009. Keith has overall responsibility for all non-academic sports provision within the university.

Deputy Director of Sport and ECS Strategic Projects

Joining Brookes in 2007, Sarah is now in the position of Deputy Director of Sport and ECS Strategic Projects. After covering a multitude of roles across the student sports programme, operations and commercial portfolio, Sarah became Deputy Director of Sport in 2016. Sarah covers a split role and also sits within the Directorate's Senior Leadership Team and oversees strategic projects aligned with the business objectives of ECS, primarily around people, culture and business improvement. Sarah also sits on the University's LGBTQ+ staff forum and is one of the Directorate's Equality, Diversity and Inclusion champions.

Marcus O'Dowda-Boswell (he/him)

Student Sport Manager

Marcus arrived at Oxford Brookes in November 2019 and is responsible for the student sport programme, TEAMBrookes. He oversees the wide range of opportunities for students to take part in local, regional and international competitions. Having represented Great Britain in two sports himself [Taekwondo & American Football], Marcus manages a large cohort of support staff, expert practitioners and technical coaches who facilitate specific areas of development. Marcus is also a Professional Services Staff Representative on the university's Academic Board, he is Oxford Brookes' Staff Representative for British Universities & Colleges Sport (BUCS), and held the position of University Commissioner for the British American Football Association (BAFA) between 2019-2022.

Finance & Systems Manager

Emma started working for Oxford Brookes University in 2016 with her initial role working for the Estates & Campus Services finance team. In 2017 Emma moved to predominantly support the Centre for Sport. As part of Emma's role, she manages the financial budgets for the department with ongoing support to budget holders. Emma is also responsible for the management of the leisure software and its associated systems with ongoing improvements made on a regular basis.

Climbing Centre Manager

Richard joined Brookes Sport in March 1997, having previously worked as an outdoor instructor in Wales and France.

Richard is responsible for building and delivering a strategic vision for the Climbing Centre including managing and leading the climbing team; developing and managing the climbing centre and the safe running and coaching of the University’s adventure sports clubs.

Swim School Manager

Marie has been with Oxford Brookes since 2015 and is currently the Swim School Manager within Brookes Sport. As part of her role, she manages the Brookes Sport Swim School which provides school swimming lessons to local primary schools, group lessons and private lessons for children and adults.

Lorenzo Monticelli

Sports Bar Manager

Lorenzo has been part of our Sports Bar team since 2014 and recently took on the Sports Bar Manager position. He's responsible for organizing events, managing bar staff, and supervising all bar operations whilst striving to provide a fun and safe environment for students and community members to relax and socialise. He's been playing basketball since the age of 13, loves sports, enjoys spending time with his family and having a drink with his friends.

Operations & Compliance Manager

Jamie joined Brookes Sport in October 2014 as a Duty Manager. He has worked in the leisure industry for over 16 years having previously worked across a number of West Oxfordshire sites. Jamie took up the role of Senior Sports Manager in May 2019 and more recently moved into his Operations & Compliance role with responsibity for managing compliance across all of our Sports sites - this includes producing and updating Risk assessments, COSHH assessments, A&I Investigations, Site audits, vehicle fleet management to name a few. Jamie is also responsible for the line management of the Duty Manager team.
