Taught modules

Compulsory modules

  • Sustainable Project Management

This module focuses on sustainable project management and how it applies in today’s organisations. You’ll examine how economic, environmental, social and governance (ESG) considerations are embedded throughout the project lifecycle, and develop the ability to use sustainability metrics, standards and best practices. Alongside this, you’ll practise the core techniques professional project managers use to plan, control and deliver projects effectively, while also learning how to engage stakeholders and manage change. By the end, you’ll be equipped to lead projects that achieve results while driving sustainable impact.

  • Project Planning, Control & Risk

Building on your prior knowledge of sustainable project management, this module will advance your skills in planning, scheduling, monitoring, and controlling projects across their full lifecycle. Using professional software tools, you'll apply techniques such as critical path analysis, earned value management, and cash flow forecasting to model and optimise outcomes to professional standards. The module also deepens your understanding of how project decisions impact stakeholders, resources, and the wider environment, integrating responsible management and sustainability to support ethical practice, create long-term value, and ensure successful project delivery.

  • Smart Projects, AI & Adaptive Methodologies

In this module, you'll apply advanced project management methodologies using the latest technologies. You'll focus on leveraging Artificial Intelligence (AI) for smarter planning, scheduling, and financial forecasting to optimise project outcomes and make data-driven decisions. You will use industry-standard tools, including AI platforms and autonomous project management systems, to plan, model, and optimise projects to professional standards. The module also emphasises Ethical AI and responsible innovation, challenging you to connect these new technologies to the wider business ecosystem and broader issues like sustainability.

  • Organisational Strategy, Leadership and Change

In this module, you'll develop a deep understanding of the practical art of managing change by exploring the theoretical underpinnings of organisational behaviour and leadership. You'll start from the premise that successful management fundamentally revolves around managing change, which requires a comprehensive understanding of human resources and emergent organisational properties like culture, politics, and leadership. You will investigate these theoretical concepts and their practical application, enabling you to use them to address the challenges facing leaders and managers in today's typically international organisations.

  • Business Intelligence

In Business Intelligence (BI), you'll be equipped with the skills to apply the latest technologies, applications, and practices for the collection, integration, analysis, and presentation of business information. You'll use data to perform statistical and quantitative analysis to drive business decisions and actions. The module provides an overview of BI technology and its application to an organisation's strategies and goals. You will learn key business intelligence techniques to understand, evaluate, and interpret business and performance metrics and tools, to improve individual and organisational performance and use this to inform and update organisational policies and procedures.

  • Procurement and Supply Chain Management

You will explore the strategically important commercial aspects of supply chain management (SCM) in an increasingly globalised business environment. This module focuses on the procurement cycle in an international context, teaching you how to identify and effectively manage entire supply networks and individual supply chains. You'll gain a deep understanding of the range of appropriate relationships between trading partners, as well as the essential techniques used to source products and services, select and appraise suppliers, and develop and manage supply contracts. This equips you with the key skills to become a vital enabler of international trade.

  • Developing Skills for Leadership and Employability

This module is designed to develop your self-awareness as a leader and team player, helping you understand your strengths and weaknesses. You'll gain and improve essential management and leadership skills, while also cultivating reflexivity and an enterprising mindset to better handle uncertainty. The module aims to boost your confidence and ability to effectively articulate your skills for career development and employment, and to enhance your interpersonal communication. We'll explore diverse leadership perspectives on key topics like ethics, EDI, sustainability, technology, and change, equipping you to manage issues of corporate social responsibility and societal wellbeing. Finally, you'll learn to analyse and respond to the impact of environmental forces and social issues on organisations.
