Your personal data

The People Directorate needs to record and process the personal data of job applicants, staff and affiliate staff in order to provide services to the University. This includes recruitment, employment relations, managing pay and conditions of service, training and development, pensions, health and safety and occupational health. 

We also need your personal data to fulfil our legal and statutory obligations, for example in relation to providing anonymous data to the Higher Education Statistics Agency (HESA), and to monitor the impact of policies and practice to promote equality, diversity and inclusion.

Our privacy notices explain what personal data we collect, why, how we use it, for how long we will retain it, and with whom we will share it. They also detail your legal rights in respect of the data that we hold. Please read the privacy notice that is relevant to you so that you are fully aware of how we will process your data.

The University takes the security and integrity of all the personal data it holds very seriously. The Information Security Management team publish a number of policies and procedures designed to ensure that all of the personal data that we handle is held processed securely and lawfully.
