Events and activities

We understand that on top of your studies, it is important to take part in extra activities to relax, enjoy yourself and meet new people. The Resi Life team runs events and activities for students in halls to take part in.

All of the events on this calendar are optional - you can choose to attend as many as you like in the free time around your course induction and classes. This calendar will continue to be updated with more events and details throughout the year - please note, some events may be subject to change.

Thursday 12 September: Headington Welcome Quiz

Headington Sports Bar, Centre for Sport, Headington Campus - 6.00pm

Kick off your university experience with a fun and engaging Welcome Quiz Night at Headington Sports Bar! This event is the perfect opportunity for you to meet new people and put your knowledge to the test.

Gather your new friends, or meet new people there and compete in a variety of quiz categories ranging from music and sports to history and general knowledge!

Monday 16 September: Harcourt Silent Disco

Harcourt Hill Bar - 7.00pm to 10.00pm

Welcome to Oxford Brookes!

Resi Life are teaming up with Brookes Sport for an exciting evening of music and dancing at our Silent Disco.

Tickets are just £2 and can be purchased online or from the entrance on the evening of the event.

Upon arrival, you’ll receive a wristband after showing proof of ticket purchase, which allows you to come and go as you please throughout the event.

This is a great opportunity to meet fellow new students and start building your university community.

See you on the dance floor!

Monday 16 September - Friday 20 September: Welcome Breakfast

Join us for a delightful Welcome Breakfast at our Halls of Residence, a perfect opportunity to kickstart your university journey!

This event is designed to warmly welcome our new students and provide a friendly atmosphere to meet new people and make new friends.

Enjoy a complimentary breakfast with a variety of delicious foods and drinks. Whether you're in the mood for fresh pastries, porridge, hot chocolate, or tea, we have something to suit every taste.

Come along, meet new people, and start building connections in a relaxed environment in your new home away from home!

Based at your Hall (Clive Booth, Crescent Hall, Paul Kent Hall, Warneford Hall and Westminster Hall)

Join us for a fun-filled Pizza Night across our residences! Indulge in a variety of delicious pizzas while enjoying an evening packed with exciting games and activities.

This event is not just about great food - it is also a fantastic opportunity to meet new people, make new friends and engage with your residences team.

The Big Night is one of our most popular events.

Resi Life, Brookes Sport, Brookes Student Union and ISAT join for a night of fun, socialising, games and activities.

Blenheim Palace Christmas Light Trail

Join your Resi Life team at Blenheim Palace where new memories are made as a multitude of glowing lights and Christmassy sounds fill the air with festive fun.

Brookes Fiesta

Brookes Fiesta End of Year Party to see out the end of the year with a bang!

Crafternoon Sessions

Bug hotels, Stained glass lanterns, Flowerpots, Positivity Pebbles and more.

Easter Egg Hunt

Free Easter eggs available and for those feeling adventurous, hunt to find one of 10 special eggs hidden around your hall of residence.

Eco-Art Challenge

A competition run by The Residences and Sustainability teams to make the most creative sculpture out of your clean dry recyclable materials.

The winning sculpture was displayed and its creator won an a £50 John Lewis voucher.

Eurovision Song Contest Watch Party

Get ready to wave your flags and cheer with National pride for an evening of incredible talent and competition!

Film Nights

Fantastic free themed on campus film viewings.

Entry is free and film titles are emailed to students in advance.

Holi Colour Run

Resi Life, Brookes Sport, Brookes Union and ISAT collaborate to host a Colour Run at Harcourt Hill in celebration of Holi.

Whether you run, jog or walk, it's a great opportunity to get outside and be active as a social event with your friends or to celebrate Holi. Powdered paint will be provided for the event - all we ask is for you to bring and wear a plain a white t-shirt to get the full colour run experience!

Pancake Day Instagram Competition

Join in on our annual Instagram pancake competition! For a chance to win a heavenly hamper of goodies, all you need to do is tag @brookesresidences in your pancake creation on Instagram. Competition dates for each year will be released here on our website and on Instagram.

Positivi-trees

To support and raise awareness for University Mental Health Day, Positivi-Trees were delivered to Clive Booth, Crescent, Paul Kent, Warneford and Westminster Hall.

This allowed residents to write something positive, encouraging and uplifting to place on the tree for others to take when they need a little pick-me-up.

Puppy Yoga

Puppy yoga returns by very popular demand! 20 minute session of yoga with puppies and a trained yoga instructor, followed by 20 minutes of play and cuddle time.

Quiz Nights

Your Resi Life Team are ready to test your knowledge! Join in for a brain-teasing quiz, food, prizes and a chance to meet new people.

Resi Life x Security - Hall Roadshows

Your Resi team and Security team up at each hall for freebies and information.

Therapy Dogs

To raise awareness of University Mental Health and mental health in general, we run therapy dog sessions.

Students can sign up for 10 minutes of relaxing, destressing and doggy cuddles.

Thorpe Park

A day of exhilarating rides with your Resi Life Team.

Warwick Castle Trip

Join your Resi Life team for a fantastic trip to Warwick Castle. With over 1000 years of history, you are sure to have a historical experience. The trip cost £20* per person, including the castle ticket and travel.
