Support groups

Safe and welcoming support groups for students who would like to share their experiences with others who understand them. They are facilitated by University staff and are open to any student who needs them.

Member of the trans+ support group

ADHD group

Monday, 1.00pm in the Garden Room (Buckley Building ground floor)

The ADHD group is open to any student at Oxford Brookes University who identifies with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder - whether you have a diagnosis or are working through your experiences independently. The group meets weekly on a Monday lunchtime on the Headington Campus.

It's a relaxed, supportive and informal group where you can be open about the your experiences of the challenges and strengths that come from having ADHD. We encourage you to share resources and strategies for surviving and thriving. The group is facilitated by two members of Inclusive Support Service staff, and we regularly invite other University staff who live with ADHD to join us.

ASC group

The ASC group is open to any student at Oxford Brookes who identifies as being on the autistic spectrum. The group runs in-person every Wednesday lunchtime during semester time in Headington, facilitated by Inclusive Support Service staff. 

The group is relaxed, open, supportive and informal, and open to any student at any point in their course. The idea of the group is to provide time and space away from some of the pressures of university life, and to be with others who might share similar experiences.

Be Well group

A space for discussion and education on topics related to positivity, happiness, staying well in university, and taking care of yourself so you can live your best life. 

The group meets in-person every Friday lunchtime during semester time, and is facilitated by Student Support Services Staff. Email studentsupportservices@brookes.ac.uk for more information. 

Endo / PMOS / chronic pain support group

For students living with pain and chronic conditions, including endometriosis and polyendocrine metabolic ovarian syndrome. The group is a space to share your experience and support your peers. 

The group meets in-person every Wednesday lunchtime during semester time and is facilitated by Student Support Services Staff. Email studentsupportservices@brookes.ac.uk for more information. 

Students of colour group

This group provides a unique place of refuge and safety for students to reflect on any experiences that may impact their academic and social experience at Oxford Brookes, and learn from and connect with your peers. 

The group meets every second week on Wednesday afternoon during semester time, and is facilitated by Student Support Services Staff. Email studentsupportservices@brookes.ac.uk for more information. 

Trans+ support group

A welcoming group for any trans or gender non-conforming student who would like to meet others having the same experience. 

This is an autonomous group for people with a lived experience of exploring gender beyond the binary. If you identify as trans, gender non-conforming, genderqueer, or are questioning your identity you are welcome in this space. 

The group runs fortnightly during semester-time and is led by an Inclusive Support adviser, a counsellor and a chaplain. For more information, please email transsupport@brookes.ac.uk.

Writing co-work space

Open space to drop by and co-work with postgrad students, students working on dissertations, or anyone trying to get some writing done.
