Rooms are set aside for prayer, contemplation and quiet across all Oxford Brookes University campuses. They are all open during core teaching hours, with some out-of-hours access.
To use the rooms safely and respectfully, please pay attention to the guidelines and posters displayed in each room.

Headington: Gipsy Lane
The Multifaith Chaplaincy rooms are on the ground floor of the Buckley Building on the Headington Campus. All members of the University are welcome to visit and use the rooms.
The Garden Room is open Monday-Friday 09.00-17.00, and the prayer room is open whenever campus is open. You need a staff or student card to access to the Buckley Building.
- The Garden Room is adjacent to the tea point and the Multifaith Chaplaincy office, and most of our groups and events are held here. It is furnished with chairs, cushions and bean bags. Scriptures and books about religion are available to read, and there is a place for you to share prayer requests.
Students and staff can book the Garden Room for events, at the discretion of the University Chaplain. Email chaplaincy@brookes.ac.uk for more details. - The prayer room (also known as the Inner Room) is adjacent to the ablution facilities. This space is open for prayer and worship, meditation, and quiet time. Prayer mats and scriptures are available.
Headington: Marston Road
The prayer and quiet rooms are available to everyone working and studying on the Marston Road site. They should be unlocked during campus opening hours; if you find them to be locked when you need access please contact reception.
- The prayer room is on the ground floor in room G.42 (near the lecture theatre).
- The quiet room is on the first floor in room 1.63 (near the upper entrance to the lecture theatre).
Swindon
The prayer and quiet room can be found on the first floor (Room 1.17). Prayer mats are available, and there are washing facilities available in the building. The prayer and quiet room is accessible whenever the building is open.
Please note, due to limitations on space this room may need to be used by a First Aider in an emergency.
Harcourt Hill
June 2024: There is no University teaching on the Harcourt Hill campus any more. Staff and students should contact Estates and Campus Services for information about access to the prayer room and chapel.
- The prayer room is in G building, lower ground level. It has washing facilities, level access, and a designated space for women's prayer.
- The Westminster Chapel is at the heart of campus; there is a small quiet room in the vestibule and the sanctuary (the main church space) is available for prayer or quiet time.
