IT for university and beyond (3 February)
How to use a variety of common software at Brookes and organise information for your studies
Many new students at Brookes comment on the wide variety of software that is in use so this session is a guide to the main systems you will be using. We'll explore moodle, Zoom, Google suite and Microsoft and how you can be sure you are saving files to the right place. We'll also think about the challenges and opportunities of AI in day-to-day computing. You are welcome to bring your own laptop and get some individual help with your digital organisation, leaving you feeling more in control of your work. There are also computers in the Think Space room that you can use. If you have a lot of windows open in your web browser, and regularly feel like computers are as much a problem as a solution, this is for you.
We are now using Zoom scheduler to handle bookings on many Think Space events. When you click on the booking link you will be taken to a booking page. Click on the start time of the event and then fill in your details. Confirmation will then be sent to your google calendar and email and you can add a phone number to get a text message reminder. We will not use your phone details for anything except processing this booking.
