Academic Writing Lab: Impactful Introductions and Conclusions (9 November)

Discover how to write sharp assignment introductions and powerful conclusions that stick with your marker.

This series of workshops explores the assignment writing process in an friendly and open way. You will have the opportunity to ask questions, compare experiences with other students and gain confidence through practice activities. Feel free to join every week or just attend the ones that target your goals.

It seems logical to write the introduction to an essay first, but it’s often easier to perfect this part later on when you know what the essay is arguing. It is important to know the typical features of introductions and conclusions, so you can write them with confidence and efficiency. This session will outline the most common “moves” that these key sections include, and the language to make them clear and effective.
