Register with a doctor and dentist

If you have moved to Oxford to study at Oxford Brookes University it is important to register with a doctor (general practitioner or GP) and a dentist. You can do this once you know what your semester-time address will be.

Vaccinations

Please read the important information on the follow vaccinations:

These vaccines are important to help keep you and your community safe. They are recommended for all students.

Students are at an increased risk of meningitis, which is a fast-acting illness that can kill within hours. Vaccines don’t protect against all types of meningitis and it’s important to be aware of signs and symptoms, so you can recognise meningitis and get help fast. Learn about meningitis and sepsis symptoms.

You may be eligible for a new Meningitis B vaccination programme if you meet any of the following criteria:

  • You were born between 1 September 2007 and 31 August 2008
  • You are aged 24 years or under and are starting university/certain residential further education settings for the first time
  • You are an international student under 25 years old entering your first year of university

If you are interested, register on the Oxfordshire Student MenB Vaccine Interest Register now - you don’t need to wait until you are in Oxford. Registering means you'll be kept informed as clinic dates and appointments are confirmed. You will receive a phone call when the booking portal opens.

The Oxford Brookes Medical Centre offers the course of HPV vaccines if you are eligible and have not yet had it. If you choose to register with another medical practice we recommend enquiring about these vaccines directly with the practice.

Please bring a record of the dates that you had your Covid-19 vaccinations with you to Oxford, especially if you believe you are entitled to a booster or are an international student.
