Active Tuesdays

From February 2025, we’re excited to launch Active Tuesdays, offering all Oxford Brookes University staff free access to our Headington and Harcourt Hill Brookes Sport gym facilities every Tuesday. This initiative runs all day, all year-round, giving you the perfect opportunity to prioritise your health and wellbeing.

We’re committed to creating the best experience for our staff. If you have any questions, suggestions, or feedback about Active Tuesdays, Brookes Active or our facilities, we’d love to hear from you!

What are Active Tuesdays?

While the gym remains open to all Brookes Sport members, this initiative offers free access exclusively for Oxford Brookes staff. Whether you’re new to the gym or a regular, Active Tuesdays make it easy to connect with colleagues, stay active and establish fitness as part of your weekly routine.

We recognise that, in this world of hybrid working, Tuesdays often serve as an anchor day for staff on campus. This makes it the perfect opportunity to enjoy a calmer, more relaxed gym environment compared to the busier Wellness Wednesays, which will just be for students moving forwards.

How to Get Involved

Follow these steps to enjoy Active Tuesdays:

  • Sign up as a Pay As You Go user if you don’t already have a Brookes Sport account.
  • On your first visit, bring your Oxford Brookes ID card or proof of employment to reception and we’ll add Active Tuesdays access to your account.
  • Download the Brookes Sport App on Android or Brookes Sport App on iOS.
  • Log in to the app:
    • Select any activity and click "Book."
    • Use your registered email to log in. If you’ve forgotten your password, click, "Reset Password."
  • On Tuesdays, use the app to check in:
    • Open the app and click "Activity Check-In" on the home screen.
    • Scan the QR code at the gym entrance to access the facilities.

Free Staff-Only 'Learn to Lift' Class

Looking to build confidence and improve your gym techniques and knowledge? Join our free, staff-only 'Learn to Lift' class, designed exclusively for Oxford Brookes staff! This small-group session (maximum six participants) is ideal for anyone keen to enhance their lifting form in a supportive environment.

When: Every Tuesday, 5.00pm to 5.45pm
Where: Gym space in Fuller, RG.03 (next to the Dojo). We’ve created handy route guides to help you find your way.
