Active Tuesdays

At Oxford Brookes University, we’re committed to supporting your wellbeing. That’s why Active Tuesdays gives all staff free, all-day access to our gym facilities every Tuesday, all year round. It’s a simple way to make time for your health and wellbeing.

What are Active Tuesdays?

While the gym remains open to all Brookes Sport members, Active Tuesdays offers free access exclusively for Oxford Brookes staff. Whether you’re new to the gym or a regular user, this initiative makes it easy to connect with colleagues, stay active and incorporate fitness into your weekly routine.

In today’s world of hybrid working, Tuesdays often serve as an anchor day for staff on campus, making it the perfect opportunity to get active.

Our Gym Facilities

At our Headington and Harcourt Hill gyms, you’ll find:

  • free weights
  • cardio equipment 
  • resistance machines.

The gym at Headington is spread across two floors, with lift access for ease of mobility.

How to Get Involved

Follow these steps to enjoy Active Tuesday:  

  1. Ensure you sign up for a Staff Registration or have an existing staff account, or a staff membership.
  2. On your first Tuesday visit, bring your staff ID to reception. They will activate your access so you can enjoy free gym entry every Tuesday.
  3. Download the Brookes Sport App (iOS or Android).
  4. To log in to the app, select any activity, click "Book" and then use the login button in the top right corner. Enter your registered email and if you've forgotten your password, click "Reset Password." 
  5. On Tuesdays, on the app click on "Activity Check-In" on the home screen and scan the QR code at the gym entrance to access the facilities.

Learn to Lift, Staff Fitness Class

Looking to build confidence and improve your gym techniques and knowledge? Join our free, staff-only 'Learn to Lift' class, designed exclusively for Oxford Brookes staff! This small-group session (maximum six participants) is ideal for anyone keen to enhance their lifting form in a supportive environment.

When: Every Tuesday, 5.00pm to 5.45pm
Where: Gym space in Fuller, RG.03 (next to the Dojo). We’ve created handy route guides to help you find your way.
