Contracts and regulations

It is important that you read and understand the terms you are agreeing to before you accept your rental agreement. You will be entering into a legally binding contract for the period stated on your agreement and as advertised on the relevant hall webpage or housing listing.

All accommodation contracts for halls are made between the accommodation provider and the student occupier. While we understand that parents or other representatives of the student will be concerned for their wellbeing, dealings need to be primarily with the residents. Past experience strongly suggests this is the most efficient way of resolving any problems that may arise.

University-owned or leased halls

The halls owned or leased by Oxford Brookes University are:

  • Cheney Student Village
  • Clive Booth Student Village (A/B, N-X and non en suite)
  • Clive Booth Postgraduate Centre
  • Crescent Hall
  • Friar Court
  • Harcourt Hill Hall and Harcourt N Block
  • Paul Kent Hall
  • Warneford Hall
  • Westminster Hall and Westminster Studios

Only full-time students are eligible to live in these halls. If you are offered a place in one of our university-owned or leased halls then you will need to agree to the following when you accept your rental agreement:

Residents are admitted to the hall and may continue to reside only if they give and abide by an undertaking not to keep a car in Oxford whilst resident in the hall.

Cheney Student Village is jointly managed with UPP Ltd. If you are offered a place at Cheney Student Village you will need to agree to the above and, in addition, the specific terms and conditions for this hall.

Partnership halls

We have a number of partnership halls which are owned or operated by a third party. Like our university-managed halls, only full-time students are eligible to live in these halls. Our third-party halls are:

  • Parade Green, Unite Students
  • Canterbury House, A2Dominion
  • Sinnet Court, A2Dominion
  • Edna Rose and Champneys Court, A2Dominion

If you are offered a place in one of our partnership halls then you will need to agree to the operator’s terms and conditions when you accept your licence to occupy, as detailed below. Students in our partnership halls will also need to abide by the University's Student Conduct Regulations.

If a student in a partnership hall leaves the university they may still be financially liable for the costs associated with the tenancy.

Rent is paid in 12 instalments on the first of each month from September until August. Your first instalment due on 1 September will be before you move in. Other payment options are available; please contact A2Dominion on student.enquiries@a2dominion.co.uk to discuss this.
