Support for graduates

Careers can offer support for alumni of Oxford Brookes University for up to 3 years after graduation.

Graduate Guide

How do I prepare for my graduate career journey?

Your Careers team has prepared a Graduate Guide. The guide is designed as a toolkit to support your career journey. It covers lots of information and advice to help you move forward, and links to the wide range of further resources we have available. We hope you find it helpful!

There are lots of things to consider to prepare yourself for working life after Oxford Brookes:

  • Writing and targeting your CV for the role that you are applying for, reviewed by Careers
  • Do you know what your selling points are and how to promote yourself to employers?
  • Have you got enough experience for the job you want to apply for? Could completing a virtual internship or volunteering help boost your CV?
  • Have you researched employers in your chosen industry and do you know what skills and experience they ask for in applicants?
  • Is your LinkedIn profile up to date and does it do yourself justice?
  • Have you practiced for your job interview and/or assessment centre?
  • Do you know where to look for roles in your industry and are you searching in the right places?

Access to Career resources

To update your registration to the Careers Resources Portal (Abintegro) after graduation, make sure to add your personal email address to your account, and to switch to graduate access. This ensures you have access to the Resources Portal even after your student email is deactivated. Be sure to do this before losing access to your student account. Just follow these steps:

  1. Go to 'My Profile'
  2. Select 'Graduate Access' from the menu on the left:
  3. Enter your personal email address and then click 'Save'.
  4. When you are ready to switch click the 'Switch to Graduate Access' button. This will disable your student login and you will now use your personal email address to access the portal going forwards.
  5. Click on the link to set a password to use with your graduate login. You will now need to access the portal via the graduate URL which is also displayed on this screen. These details will also be emailed to you. If you switched by mistake you have 30 days to revert back to your student account.

Access to jobs and careers events

You have access to careers resources, jobs and events on your Careers Portal Jobteaser for up to 3 years after you graduate.

If you don't have an account yet, please create one here. Please note, when asked for an "Oxford Brookes email address" you can use your personal email address, it doesn't have to be a Brookes account.

If you'd like to book a one-to-one appointment with an Oxford Brookes Careers Consultant please email careers@brookes.ac.uk.

Thinking about further study?

Postgraduate study can be a great investment in your future, but the decision needs careful consideration, so why not talk it over with a Careers Consultant? Careers can help you investigate whether or not further study is the right option for you.

Applying for further study is similar to applying for a job; you may be required to complete an application form, submit a CV and/or provide a supporting statement or personal statement, and Careers can help you with this.

Oxford Brookes offer a 10% discount on tuition fees to all graduates (those who have completed their undergraduate degree at Brookes) wanting to stay on or return to study for an additional degree. The offer is open to alumni from the UK as well as those categorised as overseas for fee purposes. It is designed to enable students to continue their studies on taught master's, MPhil or PhD programmes.
