Activities for new arrivals

When: Saturday 12 September 2026 and Sunday 13 September 2026, 9:00 to 17:00

Location: Lloyd Building/Oxford Brookes bus stop, Headington Campus

We know that new students find it difficult to navigate places on their own, as soon as they arrive! The International Student Advice Team has therefore organised a Meet and Greet Service to help you to get to your Brookes Accommodation.

We will meet you just outside the Headington campus,at the bus stop (see photo of the location) that you can come to once you arrive at the Airline bus stop, to take transport (via a minibus) to your Brookes accommodation. The halls served by our minibus are the following ones only:

• Warneford Hall

• Paul Kent Hall/Parade Green 

• Crescent Hall

• Clive Booth

Students wishing to go to Cheney Village will be accompanied (on foot) by one of our International Student Helpers, as this hall is 10 min walk from the Meet and Greet location.

The Meet and Greet Service will be available from 9:00am to 5:00pm on Saturday (12 September 2026) and Sunday (13 September 2026).

When: Daily from Saturday 12 September 2026 to Wednesday 16 September 2026, 10:00 to 15:00 

Location: The Forum, John Henry Brookes Building (JHBB), Headington Campus

The International Student Meeting point (ISMP) is a help desk for new international students, Our International Student Advisers and International Student Helpers are here to answer any questions you have. Come and see us to join one of our free tours, learn about our events, pick up a SIM card, or just to have a chat.

When: Saturday 12 September 2026 to Wednesday 16 September 2026, 11:00 and 13:00

Meeting point: International Student Meeting Point (ISMP) - Forum - JHBB, Headington Campus 

Booking: No booking is required however, please note that we have limited capacity (first come first served basis), so please make sure you arrive on time to join.

Headington Campus tours for international students. The tours will be led by our International Student Helpers and will last approximately 1 hour.

When: Saturday 12 September 2026 to Wednesday 16 September 2026, 14:00

Meeting point: International Student Meeting Point (ISMP) at 13.30 

Booking: No booking is required however, please note that we have limited capacity (first come first served basis), so please make sure you arrive on time to join. The event is free of charge. 

Join us for a tour of the city centre to explore Oxford, find out information about shops and points of interest and to make friends. Tours will last approximately 1 hour. 

When: Sunday 13 September 2026, 10:00 to 12:00

Location: Lecture Theatre Basement, JHB B08, John Henry Brookes Building, Headington Campus

Booking: No booking is required however, please note that we have limited capacity (first come first served basis), so please make sure you arrive on time to join. The event is free of charge.

Time to relax and make friends! Join the International Student Advice Tem and Student Helpers for a quiz and free breakfast along with other activities!

Are you moving into one of the Brookes Halls this September?

The Brookes Residences Team will be running guided tours of the halls so you can find you way around and check out where the facilities are. ISAT will also be coming along to the tours, to say hello and let you know how we can help you as an international student at Oxford Brookes.

Meeting point: Martyr’s Memorial, 13 Magdalen Street, Oxford OX1 3AE

Join Rob, our amazing tour guide, for a walking tour of historic Oxford and its colleges. Tours last approximately 1 hour. 

When: Saturday 26 September 2026

Price: £15 (Guided walking tour only - travel NOT included, Oxford Tube bus recommended)

Trip Overview: 

Meet our guide Rob in London at 11:30am for a two-hour walking tour and you’ll hear some amazing stories about this incredible city while viewing Buckingham Palace, St James’s Park, Big Ben, Trafalgar Square, The Strand, Convent Garden and the South Bank of the River Thames.

… and that’s just the start of the day, there is a 24-hour bus back to Oxford Brookes, so you can return when you want. Why not ask Rob for info on some places to see in your free time? Remember some of the top museums and attractions in London are free to visit!

Transport: Please note that you need to organise and pay for your own transport to and from London. We recommend that you book an early coach or train, as there may be delays during your journey. If you have a lot of spare time in London before the start of the tour, you can grab a coffee or go for a wander around the area. We would recommend using the Oxford Tube bus, as this goes directly from outside the University, to London Victoria.
