New students

Undergraduate

Regardless of the time of year when you are starting your course, the deadline to register your modules is:

  • Friday of the enrolment week (Week 0).

This is to ensure you receive an accurate timetable in time to start your studies on the following Monday.

If you are a new full-time student starting your first year of study (or a student entering with credit into Year 2 or Year 3), you will have pre-allocated compulsory modules to your programme of study and, depending on the programme (if it is not fully compulsory), you might have the opportunity to select your optional modules during enrolment week (Week 0) when you arrive at the University. You will gain access to module registration once you have completed the enrolment process.

Please note that in your first year, you can only study Level 4 modules. You will study Level 5 and Level 6 modules in your second and third years.

Postgraduate

  • Thursday of the enrolment week (Week 0) for semester 1 modules
  • Friday of Week 3 of your first semester of study is the deadline to register modules for semester 2. For any module registration requests beyond this deadline, please seek advice from your Student Support Coordinator.

How to register your modules

You can add or delete any modules by logging into your Student Information pages. You will only be able to log into Student Information after you have enrolled.

To avoid technical issues, you are advised to use Student Information in a Google Chrome browser on a laptop or desktop computer.

Some of the modules for your subject(s) are compulsory and cannot be changed; some of the modules are optional and can be changed. A list of all the modules available can be found in Student Information by selecting Browse Course Catalogue.

Academic English modules

Please remember that if you do not speak English as a first language and you are new to studying in the UK, you can take Academic English modules and short courses to help you learn more about communicating effectively at university.

These include credit-bearing modules that all first-year students can take free of charge as an eighth or a ninth module.

If all of your first-year modules are compulsory you will need to take it as your ninth module, without it counting towards your degree classification.
