Claire is Interim Pro Vice-Chancellor, Education at Oxford Brookes University.
Claire was most recently a Professor of Higher Education and the Associate Pro-Vice Chancellor, Education and Student Experience, at the University of Salford. She is an Advance HE National Teaching Fellow (2012), Principal Fellow and CATE (Collaborative Award for Teaching Excellence) team award winner (2023).
Throughout her 16 years of university leadership, she has led both faculty and institutional-level quality enhancement projects as a Senior Academic Fellow, Head of Education, Head of Department, Head of International and Professor of Higher Education.
During this time, she was responsible for a broad remit of educational innovation and contract research to improve student outcomes and experiences, with a focus on quality enhancement through monitoring and evaluating provision. Fundamental to this work has been collaborative working with colleagues, students and external partners to develop a shared vision with a focus on the best interests of diverse student communities, leading to academic excellence.
