Professor Sara Hannam is interim Pro Vice-Chancellor for the Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences. Sara is a Professor of Global Education and Engagement, with a particular focus on inclusivity and outcomes in international education, fostering global HE partnerships, mentoring vulnerable students and the role of the English Language in HE teaching contexts around the world. Sara supervises PhD students who have these broad interests.
Sara did her Master’s and PhD at Sheffield University (School of Education) and lived and worked in Northern Greece for many years in various university teaching and leadership roles before returning to the UK in 2011.
Since joining Oxford Brookes, Sara has held various positions including Head of Global Partnerships, Associate Dean Strategy in the Oxford Brookes Business School and, before becoming the Pro Vice-Chancellor for the Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences, Sara was the Deputy Pro Vice-Chancellor.
Sara has also held external consultancy and committee membership with Advance HE, Liverpool John Moores University and the Chartered Association of Business Schools. Sara is the co-convener of the Transnational Education Research Hub which has international and UK membership.
