Stress management

The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) defines stress as ‘The adverse reaction people have to excessive pressures or other types of demand placed on them at work.’  This definition makes the distinction between pressure, which can be stimulating and motivating, if managed correctly; and stress, which can occur when pressure or other demands become excessive.

The Policy for the Prevention and Management of Work-Related Stress sets out the University’s commitment to, and arrangements for, reducing the impact of work related stress.

These web pages provide a range of guidance, resources and information to raise awareness of stress and support individuals and their managers to reduce the impact of stress in the workplace
