Student bus passes

Students can apply for a discounted CityZone annual bus pass for the 2025/26 academic year, reduced from the full price of £700. This will allow access to a wide range of Oxford Bus Company, Thames Travel and Pulhams routes covering the city centre and the majority of greater Oxford. You must be enrolled and be able to access your student email account before applying for a bus pass. Please check below which bus pass to apply for.

Please note that all passes are subject to an additional non-refundable £10 admin fee. When you go to purchase your pass the price will initially appear as the standard price of £700. After logging in or registering for an account using your Oxford Brookes student email address, the price will reduce to the subsidised price plus the £10 admin fee.

Frequently asked questions

How do I know if I get a Brookes Bursary?

The Bursary is based on household income and is applied automatically to anyone who is eligible. Check the eligibility criteria for the Brookes Bursary.

How do I know whether I live within one or two miles of the University?

You don't need to know this for certain as the application process will check it for you. You only need to know what your postcode will be. Enter it into the application form and you will receive a reply confirming which pass applies to you.

For students living in halls of residence, please go the list of halls of residence, click on your hall and select 'location' from the menu to view the address and postcode.
For students living in all other accommodation, you can enter your address into the Royal Mail Postcode Finder.

What happens once I've applied?

If you have purchased the standard discounted pass at £220* you will receive an email from the Oxford Bus Company confirming the purchase and informing you how to download the app.

If you have applied for the £125 pass or free pass*, you should receive an automated email within 30 minutes of submitting your application. This email will confirm your ticket price based on the information you have given. The email will also contain a link to the correct product on the Oxford Bus Company website which you can then buy online. You will then receive an email from the Oxford Bus Company confirming the purchase and informing you how to download the app.

Are there other ways of getting discounted bus travel?

Yes - you can also use your student ID card to travel on Oxford Bus Company buses at the discounted price of £1.80 per trip. Simply show your card to the driver to obtain the discount.
