UCAS Tariff - Achieving 120 points

  • You must achieve 120 UCAS Tariff points from qualifications equivalent to 3 A-levels only.

Qualifications that are equivalent to 3 A-levels include:

    • BTEC Extended Diploma
    • 2 A-levels plus Extended Project plus 1 AS-level
    • 3 BTEC Extended Certificates
    • BTEC Extended Certificate plus BTEC Diploma
    • Access to Higher Education Diploma
    • 5 Scottish Highers

We will not count UCAS Tariff points taken from more than 3 A-levels – so if for example you are taking 3 A-levels plus an AS-level in a different subject, we won’t include the AS points.  Or if you are taking 2 BTEC Diplomas, we will not count all four grades (so if you attain DD and MM, we will count only DDM).

There are many different ways of achieving 120 UCAS Tariff points. Some of the most common ways are:

    • 3 A-levels – Grades BBB, or A*CC
    • 2 A-levels plus 2 AS – Grades BB+aa, or AB+bb
    • 2 A-levels plus 1 AS plus Extended Project – Grades BB+b+A, or AB+b+C
    • 1 A-level plus BTEC Diploma – Grades A+DM, or D+DD
    • BTEC Extended Diploma – Grades DDM
    • Access to HE Diploma – Grades Dx27 + Mx15 + Px3, or Dx24 + Mx21

You can also use the UCAS Tariff Calculator to assess your likely or actual points total.
