Academy

Brookes Climb Academy is our elite competition climbing team for 7 to 17-year-olds. Academy athletes train a minimum of two hours per week with our elite coaches and attend local and national climbing competitions, competing as Brookes Climb Academy.

Junior Academy 7 to 12 years

Junior Academy athletes attend a coached 90-minute session once a week and commit to a minimum of twice-weekly personal climbing. Our Coaching team runs regular workshops and creates individual personal training plans for each academy member. JA athletes are expected to attend the BMC Midland Youth Climbing Series (MYCS) and other local competitions.

Youth Academy 12 to 17 years

Our entry-level academy. Foundation Academy athletes attend a coached 120-minute session once a week and commit to a minimum of twice-weekly personal climbing. Our coaching team will create individual athlete-level training and profiling plans for each academy member and run workshops and profiling events. The FA athletes are expected to attend BMC, Midland Youth Climbing Series (MYCS), Open Series Competitions and other local competitions.

Development Academy 9 to 17 years

Development Academy athletes attend a coached 120-minute session once a week and commit to a minimum of twice-weekly personal climbing. Our coaching team will create individual high-level athlete training and profiling plans for each academy member and run S&C sessions, workshops and profiling events. DA athletes are expected to attend BMC, Midland Youth Climbing Series (MYCS), Open Series Competitions and other local competitions.

Performance Academy 9 to 17 years

Elite members of the Junior and Development academies will be invited to join the Brookes Performance Academy. PA members continue to attend their junior or Development academy sessions, as well as a further 120-minute coached PA session, and a minimum of three personal climbing sessions. The PA sessions push to a higher athlete level, aiming to gain podiums at competitions and aspire to high training targets, including GB Climbing Team trials.

Senior Academy - TEAMBrookes

The Team Brookes Academy is our student Climbing Club team. Academy members attend a coached 120-minute session once a week and commit to a minimum of three personal climbing sessions a week. 

Our coaching team creates individual high-level athlete training and profiling plans for each member and runs S&C sessions, workshops, and profiling events. Members also have access to Team Brookes S&C sessions with the performance team coaches. Team Brookes athletes attend a variety of competitions, including LUBE, BUCS, British Bouldering Championships and local competitions. Team Brookes scholarships are available to all athletes wishing to attend Oxford Brookes University.
