Exam arrangements for disabled students

Reasonable adjustments for students with disabilities, dyslexia and learning difficulties

You must have an Inclusive Support Plan (ISP) in place to be permitted reasonable adjustments in exams.

Therefore, you should consult the Inclusive Support Service in plenty of time for your ISP to be created, and be mindful that there are exam deadlines each semester for reasonable adjustments (see below). ISP adjustments once set up and listed in your ISP are in place for the duration of your course unless an expiry date is stated. There is no requirement for you to contact the Exams Office directly unless you have a query.

Application deadlines for reasonable adjustments 2022/23

  • Semester 1: Friday 25 November 2022
  • Semester 1 Resit: Friday 10 March 2023
  • Semester 2: Friday 31 March 2023
  • Semester 2 Resit: Friday 26 May 2023

Arrangements

  • Students should email altprov@brookes.ac.uk; if they don't have the type of room they expect, have the same room as the main room which is published on the timetable on the Exam timetable and key dates webpage, or they can't see any extra writing time allowance in the duration of your Google Calendar event by Week 11.
  • All requirements approved by the relevant service before the deadline will be met.
  • Students with approved reasonable adjustments should check their full provision is correct using the reasonable adjustments page in Student Information.

Please note:

  • Students who have a scribe or reader will have the opportunity to meet them before the exam.
  • If a student repeatedly chooses not to use word processing, the provision will be removed.
