Michele takes a leading role in meeting the university's aims and objectives regarding our environmental sustainability performance. This includes overseeing the delivery of our environmental policies, strategies and engagement programs delivered through the Environmental Sustainability Team. She also manages the development and implementation of the university’s ISO 14001 accredited Environmental Management System.

Gavin Hodgson
Energy and Carbon Reduction Manager
Gavin is responsible for reducing the university’s energy consumption, and identifying and managing carbon reduction opportunities across university operations. He leads on the analysis and reporting of energy and carbon data.

Ashley Hayden
Sustainable Travel Manager
Ashley is responsible for organising, promoting and delivering incentives to encouraging greater usage of sustainable transport at Oxford Brookes University. This is a broad profile and encompasses managing all of the general transport operations at the University (e.g. BROOKESbus, Bike Dr and Car-operations) to enhance student and staff experience.

Brookes Union
Brookes Union has a dedicated Environmental Officer who leads the Union’s student-led environmental team. The Union currently holds a Silver NUS Green Impact Award. In 2016/17 the format of the award changed to focus more on the delivery of campaigns. The award levels changed from Gold, Silver and Bronze to Good, Very Good, and Excellent. The EiE is a not-for-profit organisation which provides UK organisations with support to reduce their energy, water and waste. The EiE webpages include practical information, actions, and support to help organisations understand and implement efficiency actions.
Oxford Institute for Sustainable Development (OISD)
Founded in 2004, OISD is one of the UK's largest research institutes dedicated to sustainable development research in the built and natural environments. The institute consists of eight distinct research groups. Using a multi- and inter-disciplinary approach, it addresses the many dimensions of sustainable development and the synergies and processes that link them. OISD contributes to major Research Council programmes through various research grants. These include Living with Environmental Change, Energy research, Sustainable Urban Environments and Lifelong Health and Wellbeing.
