Water

At Oxford Brookes University we're keen to reduce our water wastage and we do this in four, key ways.

  1. We've installed water efficiency showers, taps and toilets in our buildings to help reduce water use.
  2. Our smart water meters find hidden water leaks that can waste millions of litres of water per year.
  3. Rainwater harvesting at our Headington campus and Clive Booth Student Village. Capturing rainwater for use in toilets and irrigation.
  4. We provide free drinking water at all our catering outlets (and other locations throughout our campuses) to encourage the use of refillable water bottles. This also helps reduce the amount of plastic waste generated from single-use water bottles.
For more information, see our Water Strategy and Water Reduction Action Plan.

“FACT: Although the UK is known for its rain, it has less available water per person than most European countries.”
