Presented as part of OutBurst (formerly the Amazing Acts Festival), Pegasus Theatre, Oxford, Thursday 10 May 2012
Students from Oxford Brookes’ Creative Writing MA course faced an evening that was both thrilling and nerve-wracking on Thursday when they had the opportunity to showcase their work to a group of literary agents, publishers and one of the world’s best-selling writers.
Of fifteen hopefuls, seven had been selected by writer Kate Clanchy, Oxford’s City Poet and Creative Writing Fellow at Brookes, to present extracts of their work to the literary professionals as well as to novelist Phillip Pullman, who is also a Creative Writing Fellow on the Brookes course.
As a direct result of the evening, two students are now in talks with agents and could land a publishing deal that will establish them in the literary world.
The event took place as part of Oxford Brookes’ inaugural residency at the city’s Pegasus Theatre.
