From the very beginning Oxford Brookes was my first choice as the city has a reputation for inspiring students. The best part of studying at Brookes was being involved in its multi-cultural environment.

I benefited greatly from the excellent facilities which the university provides for its students. The MA matched my interests perfectly. It was well structured and exceptional guidance was given at all times.

During my work placement I gained 12 weeks’ of work experience within the Policy Support Section of the United Nations’ Office on Drugs and Crime in Vienna, Austria. Throughout this time, I was engaged with assisting staff members with the preparations of the meetings. I liaised with staff members, Permanent Representatives of Member States, NGOs and IGOs in scheduling events and co-ordinating meetings. I also provided support to my line manager and took notes on the deliberations of the Commissions. Additionally, I reviewed UNODC’s website and acted as an intermediary to delegations.

The placement is much more than just a chance to gain work experience. It was as an ideal opportunity to gain first-hand knowledge of a commercial business environment, and to work with competent professionals who are willing to help you to learn and understand the workings of the real business world.
