We will be researching the various methodologies available today, their approaches, suggested processes and applications with the aim of providing information and advice on what is available and how these may most appropriately used for the IT programme.

    What is a 'project methodology'?

A project methodology provides a 'roadmap' for the planning & day-to-day management of a project, acting as a reminder of what needs to be considered at which stages of the project.

Since the 1950's a wide variety of differing methodologies have been developed and practised - like PRINCE2, Agile and APMP. Despite the variations in these methodologies and their applications they all have one fundamental aim, to try and advise/specify the optimal way to initiate, plan, execute and close a project.
