PGCE Primary

I was attracted to the Primary PGCE course because of the standard of teaching that is offered. When researching into possible places to study Brookes stood above the rest because of its outstanding Ofsted report and reviews from former students

Before beginning my PGCE I studied for a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminology at the University of Chester.

I decided to do the Primary PGCE course partly because I had a placement for a work based module of my undergraduate degree at a charity involved in teaching 'Global Dimension' in schools. I thoroughly enjoyed the aspects of teaching that I saw here and this gave me the incentive to become a teacher myself.

I was attracted to the Primary PGCE course because of the standard of teaching that is offered. When researching into possible places to study Brookes stood above the rest because of its outstanding Ofsted report and reviews from former students.

My favourite aspect of the course was the lecturer's ability to make me feel like a child learning for the first time again. I found this extremely useful as it made it possible for me to understand the difficulties that a child may encounter when beginning to learn how to count, throw a ball or write. The teaching I have received during my time at Brookes has been implemented on my placements, utilising many of the teaching strategies and warm-up games shown throughout the year.

The staff on the Primary PGCE course are extremely understanding and accommodating to any needs that I may have. They are prepared to help at any point and do so in a friendly manner, I have found this very useful throughout the year. This year has also seen me make many friends, that I know will be able to support me throughout my teaching career.

Upon completion of my PGCE, I am hoping to teach in an inner-city school in year 5, with an eventual goal of a management position.
