Writing Word(s) Workshop 2025

2-4 July 2025

Oxford Brookes University’s Centre for Psychological Research is pleased to invite international researchers in the field of written production to the Writing Word(s) Workshop 2025, taking place from 2-4 July 2025, in Oxford.

We hope to live up to the excellent previous editions, held in Poitiers, Bristol, Marseille and Potsdam.

The workshop brings together researchers from cognitive psychology, educational psychology, cognitive neuropsychology, psycholinguistics, and neuroscience for an in-depth discussion on written production. We expect to encourage collaboration and lively discussion with a programme of presentations that will bring together the latest theoretical, methodological, and empirical contributions.

We are honoured to confirm that two outstanding keynote speakers will present at the workshop this year.Professor Julie Dockrell (UCL) and Professor Markéta Caravolas (Bangor University) will present their latest research and insights into writing assessment and writing difficulties.

Information for presenters:

Each speaker has a 30-minute slot. Please aim for a 15-minute presentation, leaving 15 minutes for questions, discussion, and changeover.

The poster session will run for 1 hour.

Getting to Headington Campus

Whether you're travelling from nearby or overseas, we've made it easy to find your way to the Writing Word(s) Workshop 2025 at Oxford Brookes University.

By Train

Trains run regularly from London Paddington and Marylebone to Oxford.

From Oxford Railway Station, take the U1 BROOKES bus or 400 from stop R1 – both go directly to Headington Campus.

From Oxford Parkway Station, hop on the 700 bus to reach campus.

By Car

Please note that there is no parking available on campus.

If you’re driving, we recommend using the Thornhill Park & Ride, which is just a short bus ride from campus:

  • Served by U1 and 400 buses
  • Overnight parking is allowed (up to 72 hours)

By Coach

Travelling from London? The Oxford Tube is a fast and frequent service between Victoria Coach Station and Headington Campus:

  • Coaches depart every 15 minutes during the day
  • The journey takes around 90 minutes

You can also check National Express and Megabus for other services.

Getting Around Oxford

Oxford is a compact, walkable city with excellent public transport links. Buses run frequently between the city centre and Headington Campus

Walking is also a great option if you're staying nearby

By Air

Arriving at Heathrow or Gatwick?

The Airline coach service connects both airports directly to Oxford, with stops at Headington Campus.

Travelling from Outside the UK?

As of April 12, 2024, travellers from outside the UK need to apply for an Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA).

Simple application via the ETA app or online. Most applications are processed within 3 working days, so apply before you travel
