Your course induction

An introduction to your course and how you'll learn at Oxford Brookes University.

Induction Week is Monday 14 to Friday 18 September 2026. During this week, most courses will have their own schedule of events that you must attend. Make sure to find your course induction schedule below so you know where you need to be during Induction Week.

Your course induction is mandatory and should be your priority for this week. However, there are lots of additional, optional events happening over Induction Week which you can join in your free time. The full events calendar will be available from Friday 28 August.

Courses with early inductions

Some courses start their inductions earlier than the main Induction Week. You can view induction schedules for these courses below:

Associate study

An associate student is a student who is studying one or two modules but is not registered for a university award (certificate, diploma or degree). Associate students are welcome to join their course's induction activities.

Continuing Professional Development (CPD)

CPD Associate students are students taking stand-alone modules which are not part of an award-bearing course such as an MSc. You will be contacted directly with details of your induction. You are also welcome to join the events open to all students

Distance learning

If you are studying on an online/distance learning course, you should complete online enrolment but you are not expected to come to Oxford Brookes, unless your course contacts you. Your course will be in contact with all the details you need for your study programme.

Part-time study

Part-time degree students are welcome to join the appropriate induction for their course/module. Please note it is not compulsory for you to attend these induction events as we appreciate some part-time students have other working commitments. Some part-time students studying in healthcare will have an induction as part of their first teaching session and your course will be in contact with you about this.

Research degree students and professional doctorate students

Research degree students don't have a week of planned activities between 14 and 18 September like taught students do. However, you can expect to be contacted by the Research Degrees team with information about:

  • Enrolling as an Oxford Brookes student
  • How to set up your first meeting with your supervisor
  • Upcoming induction events and training
