Free gym access every Wednesday, plus support to help you build confidence and improve your wellbeing.

Wellness Wednesdays give Oxford Brookes students free access to our gym facilities every Wednesday throughout the year. Whether you're looking to improve your wellbeing, build confidence in the gym or create healthy habits alongside your studies, Wellness Wednesdays provide a welcoming and supportive place to get started.

Designed to support both your physical and mental wellbeing, Wellness Wednesdays also help you connect with others and feel part of the Oxford Brookes community.

Alongside free gym access, you'll also find support services, Inclusive Gym Time and opportunities to connect with the wider Brookes Sport & Active Wellness community.

How to access Wellness Wednesdays

Getting started is easy. Follow the steps below to access free gym entry through Wellness Wednesdays:

  1. Ensure you have a Student Registration, an existing student account or a valid student membership.
  2. On your first Wellness Wednesday visit, bring your student ID to reception. They will activate your access so you can enjoy free gym entry every Wednesday.
  3. Download the Brookes Sport App (iOS or Android).
  4. On Wednesdays, on the app click on "Activity Check-In" on the home screen and scan the QR code at the gym entrance to access the facilities.

Inclusive Gym Time

Inclusive Gym Time provides a quieter gym environment for those who may find busy or noisy spaces challenging.

On Wednesday mornings, from when we open until 10am, we:

  • Turn off the music
  • Turn off all public TV screens
  • Politely request that all gym users work out as quietly as possible

Please note: A fire alarm test takes place every Wednesday at approximately 9.45am.

Inclusive Gym Time is also available on Thursdays from 2pm - 5pm.

Whether you're new to the gym or simply prefer a quieter environment, Inclusive Gym Time offers a welcoming space to be active.

New to the gym or need a refresher? We've got you covered. Our free support services and specialised classes are designed to help you build confidence, learn new skills and feel comfortable using our facilities.

Wednesdays are the focal point of Sport & Active Wellness at Oxford Brookes. Whether you're using the gym, competing in a BUCS fixture, supporting friends or enjoying our social spaces, there are plenty of ways to get involved.

During the BUCS season, many students spend Wednesdays competing, supporting friends or enjoying the atmosphere around our facilities. Whether you're competing, supporting friends or making the most of the opportunities available through Wellness Wednesdays, Wednesdays are a great opportunity to be active and connect with the Brookes community.
